SFD - A FIVE STAR DEPARTMENT
Established - 1951
 |
ORGANIZATION
The Senatobia Fire Department holds among the lowest fire insurance ratings in the state
among municipalities its size, and even among many that are significantly
larger. They proudly provide fire protection to in excess of ten thousand
citizens in and around the City of Senatobia and also proved rescue services to
all 404 square miles of Tate County. The fire department operates under
the original charter that was formed in 1951 with only seven men.
|
 |
MEN
Almost sixty years later, they now have 34 firemen, 15
of whom are full time. 15 of these 34 men have been in the department 10
or more years, and the department has a combined total of over 320 years of fire
and rescue experience.
|
 |
EQUIPMENT
The fire department has ten trucks: three
pumpers, two rescues, one aerial ladder, one brush truck, one hazmat suburban,
one personnel vehicle, and a chief's vehicle. The department's equipment
is among the latest technology available to the fire service. In addition
to a new Pierce/Kenworth rescue truck, the department has also added its third
set of Hurst-Jaws of Life rescue tools, and a large assortment of rope rescue
and collapse rescue equipment.

 |
STATIONS
The SFD operates three stations. Station 1 on
Front St. downtown, Station 2 on Scott St. in the industrial park, and Station 3
on Hwy. 4 West near the Westwood subdivision. Stations 2 and 3 are manned
24 hours a day. Station 1 downtown is manned during days only.
